Author's Note: Written for the fic contest at GrellSutcliff-FC on DA. I wanted to take a different take on Grell's character: I wanted to write him the way I personally prefer seeing him. I haven't written Eric that much though so please be gentle.

Yeah it's been a while since I wrote my last entry. I was thinking of just abandoning this account altogether, but I have to say I missed it here. To all my LJ friends, sorry you haven't heard from me in a while. I was out exploring other places on the interwebs, then I realized that I missed the format over here. DA isn't that private, Facebook no one really reads anything long, same with Tumblr but there you have even more of a risk of getting screamed at for the smallest opinion than here.

I'm going to try to post some more fic here, try to see who else in the LJverse will read my stuff. I can't guarantee that it will be chapters of anything, but I have some things I've been playing with that I do want to post here. So pardon me while I settle in a bit more. Hopefully there are still people around, so come over and say hi. Just wipe your feet and mind you manners.

Any of you who have been following this journal since I joined the Kuro fandom probably have heard me ranting on a specific topic related to Grell. Well last November this particular topic in the fandom got really ugly and to the point where I was ready to leave the fandom and it nearly killed my muse. The wank has died down considerably to the point where people aren't getting screamed at nearly as much for expressing a certain opinion. I actually did a lot of thinking about my own position in this debate to the point where I have decided to take a position if only for my own inspiration. In this process I have rediscovered the muse that brought me into this fandom in the first place and I am clutching onto it.

The topic is related to Grell's gender: how should Grell be seen, how should Grell be referred, etc.

I have done quite a few posts about this topic on LJ, just look through my journal to see all of them. I'm not going to rehash too much here. I will just say this is a topic I have agonized over for many reasons.

I have made a series of decisions that are my own. They are not up for debate, it would do no good to try to convince my otherwise. I'm keeping this open for now, but I will friends lock it if people can't be civil.

I have decided that I'm not going to post full versions of my ongoing Kuro fics over here. It seems like few people are reading them strictly over here, plus formatting every chapter on this site takes a lot longer then formatting them on ff.net or even DA. With few people reading them over here, it just seems like a waste of my time.

I may or may not post any new writing over here, depending on how I feel.

For all your information, This Immortal Coil is getting closer to its sunset. I don't know how many more chapters there will be, but the storyline is really going to start winding down after this next chapter and there will be some huge developments in the next few chapters.

For all my Death Note fans, I do have every intention of updating Best Laid Plans. I know it's been almost a year and a half since I updated that story, but this year and a half has been a massive clusterfuck for me both personally and creatively. It's likely I'll start updating again when This Immortal Coil is over.

I really do want to get back into Death Note. I ended up having a second wind in the Kuro fandom (which will be the subject of another journal entry) but I do want to ease my way back into Death Note again. It made me really sad to lose inspiration for that fandom and I wan to see if I can recapture something now that the fandom has would down.

I do want to post on LJ a little more often. I've been neglecting it but I want to do a little more blogging here than I have.

I was posting fics up here, but I've been stepping off that because nothing I've been posting has really been getting any response. Plus it takes longer to format a fic post on this site than any other site I post fic on, so it's not worth the effort if no one is reading. I have been doing most of my personal posts on FB, DA, and Tumblr, but I do like using this site for personal posts.

This is a whiny and ranty post. I'm tired and just gushing my brains here and I make no apologies for it.

I probably asked this a very long time ago, but I figured I'd ask it again: If I posted any original stuff on here, would anyone read it?

I've been getting a lot more fanfic ideas, but have been kind of tempted to play around with some short original pieces. I actually have been getting the bug to see if I could jump start my original universe again; now that I have a lot more writing experience since I last touched it and a lot more ways I could work with stuff. Just a thought.

Personally I adore writing fanfic, but I'm getting really tired of the concept of fandom communities in general. I'm really sick of having one idea for a character, only to have canon shoot it down and a horde of fans scream at anyone who wants to look at it differently. I'm tired of caring what canon actually says. I'm sick of coming up with stories and ideas that I want to try to keep within the canon plot, only to have the entire idea shot down with one new update. I'm sick of watching every fanbase I join deteriorate into a wasteland of bickering idiots, not to mention how disheartening it is when a fandom suddenly dies and you're the lone one keeping the banner up. I'm noticing more and more of my fics have more original ideas and a bunch of OC's, though this is still someone';s universe I'm playing with and not mine.

I'm not saying I'm leaving fanfic or fandom at all, I'm just saying I'm getting tired of what I'm seeing. I've been through three fandoms and the same thing happened to all of them. I don't feel bad about the fact I've been writing mostly fanfic for the past six years; I'm proud of what I've come up with and I appreciate every single muse. I'm just getting tired of being jerked around like this. Maybe I want to play in my own sandbox, but perhaps I would love it if I knew there were people to play with me.
